Transporting NZ Challenges Parties to Back Freight and Productivity Policies

Transporting New Zealand has released its Election Platform 2026, calling on all political parties to prioritize practical transport policies and improve supply chain resilience.

The platform identifies five key areas for action: fuel and supply chain resilience, infrastructure, safer roads, workforce development, and lower-emission freight.

Road freight moves approximately 93% of New Zealand's freight by tonnage and employs around 33,000 people, making a reliable and efficient freight network essential to the country's economic success.

Transporting New Zealand Chief Executive Dom Kalasih emphasized that 'if we want a more productive and competitive economy, we need a transport system that is reliable and efficient.'
