Treasury Secretary's Notepad Spills Secret Plan for Yen Intervention
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's notepad was inadvertently photographed during a cabinet meeting at Camp David, revealing a plan to buy up to $10 billion in Japanese Yen. The photograph, taken by Reuters, showed 'Buy Japanese Yen (JPY) $5-10 bil' listed as a 'To Do' item on the notepad.
The photo was captured at 11:33 a.m. ET and appeared to contain only this single entry with no other notes. Bessent's name card sat directly above the pad, leaving little doubt that it belonged to him.
The Treasury Department did not immediately respond to Benzinga's request for comment on the matter.
