Trump Administration Reopens Bid to Remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa D. Cook

The Trump administration has reopened its bid to oust Federal Reserve Governor Lisa D. Cook, despite her being cleared by the Supreme Court just two months ago.

Cook, the first Black woman to serve on the Fed's Board of Governors in its 108-year history, received a letter from the White House stating it was 'considering' her removal due to mortgage fraud allegations.

The letter, signed by deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino, gives Cook 21 days to respond to the claims. However, she has never been charged with a crime or convicted of wrongdoing in relation to the allegations.

Cook's lawyers have dismissed the claims as 'baseless' and 'politically motivated,' and vowed to challenge what they call another pretext for her removal.
