Trump Administration Seeks to Fire Federal Reserve Governor Amid Mortgage Fraud Allegations
The Trump administration is moving forward with its efforts to fire Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook, two months after the Supreme Court allowed her to remain in her position while she fights a lawsuit against her termination. In June, the court issued a 5-4 decision that allowed Cook to stay as long as her lawsuit challenging her firing continues.
The Trump administration is appealing a lower-court ruling in Cook's favor and has not given up on its efforts to remove her from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Cook was nominated by President Joe Biden and has denied allegations of mortgage fraud that led to the president's attempt to fire her.
