Trump Backs Warsh, Again Urges Lowest Interest Rates
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his respect for Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh in an Oval Office press conference on Monday, August 31.
Warsh had recently stated that the central bank will have work to do if policymakers don't get confidence that inflation is heading down to 2%.
Trump has repeatedly urged lowering interest rates, stating that 'we should pay...the lowest interest rates anywhere in the world by far.'
The Fed's preferred Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index remained at 3.7% on an annual basis as of July.
