Since his confirmation as Federal Reserve Chair in May, Kevin Warsh has been on the receiving end of frequent phone calls from President Donald Trump. However, sources told The Wall Street Journal that these conversations have not touched on interest rates.

The pair's discussions have reportedly focused on other topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy and the war in Iran. Trump has also taken to praising Warsh's looks on television appearances, with one source describing this behavior as a 'pattern of praise.'

Warsh, 56, inherits an inflation path complicated by the Iran war energy shock, and he has vowed to protect the Fed's independence and simply do his job if challenged. Markets price every presidential phone call against this vow.
