President Donald Trump visited suburban Detroit on Monday to tout his economic policies and defend his tariffs, which have affected many businesses in Michigan.

The state's economy relies heavily on Canada, but new tariffs on imported cars and auto parts have created concerns, particularly with inflation still running high and elevated gas prices.

During a tour of a General Motors facility in Milford, Trump praised the company's investments in U.S. auto manufacturing and credited his administration for increasing those investments.

However, auto analysts say Trump's claims are exaggerated and represent companies' retooling and production line adjustments.
