Trump Demands Fed Rate Cut Amid Strong Jobs Report
US President Donald Trump has urged the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates, citing the country's strong economic conditions. Trump pointed out that the US runs a deficit with some countries and threatened to stop trading with them unless the Fed acts.
'Great jobs number just announced, breaking all estimates (except mine!) by double and triple,' Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.
He argued that stronger economic conditions justify lower borrowing costs. 'A strong country means a lower interest rate, it's a better credit,' Trump added.
Trump also suggested that the US should have the world's lowest interest rate, like 'the old days.' He linked monetary policy to trade relationships and criticized the Supreme Court's recent tariff decision.
