Trump Demands Lowest Interest Rates for US
U.S. President Donald Trump called on the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates, saying the U.S. should have the lowest interest rate in the world.
In a statement made aboard Air Force One on July 27, Trump expressed his opinion that interest rates are too high and that other countries pay less. He specifically mentioned that he believes rates should be lowered and that the U.S. should follow suit.
Trump also took a shot at Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, saying that 'Kevin is fantastic, but he's got a board, and the board members are very political.' This comment suggests that Trump may view the Fed as being swayed by politics rather than purely economic considerations.
