Trump Demands Lowest Interest Rates Globally Ahead of Fed Meeting

President Donald Trump has made it clear that he wants to see interest rates in the US at the lowest level globally. Speaking at the Irish Open golf tournament, Trump stated that no country should have lower interest rates than the U.S., and emphasized that the country 'should be paying the lowest interest rate in the world.'

This comes just days before the Federal Reserve's next policy meeting, which is expected to raise interest rates due to inflation concerns. A key measure of underlying inflation, the Labor Department's Consumer Price Index, posted its largest increase in four months last Friday.

Trump has been critical of the Fed's interest rate levels, arguing that they have helped other countries at the expense of the US. He has also threatened to stop trading with countries that have a trade deficit with the US if the Fed doesn't lower rates.
