This comment comes ahead of the central bank's upcoming monetary policy meeting.
The Federal Reserve is set to meet on Wednesday, and investors are closely monitoring their decision following a stronger-than-expected inflation reading. Consumer prices recorded their largest monthly increase in four months last Friday, adding to concerns that persistent inflation could limit the central bank's ability to ease monetary policy.
Trump has been critical of former Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell but has appeared more supportive since Kevin Warsh took over earlier this year. However, Trump has intensified his demands for lower borrowing costs in recent weeks, even going so far as to say that the Federal Reserve should cut interest rates or he would stop trading with countries running trade deficits.
