Trump Demands Lowest US Interest Rates Amid Fed Rate Hike Pressure

President Trump is calling for the lowest interest rates in the world for the United States, despite the Federal Reserve's current stance. Speaking in Ireland on Sunday, Trump said that with the best credit in the world, the US should be paying 'the lowest interest rate in the world, regardless of their formulas.'

Trump also expressed frustration with the Fed, particularly Chairman Kevin Warsh, whom he handpicked for the role. The President criticized former Fed Chief Jerome Powell for not cutting rates more aggressively and has signaled continued dissatisfaction with the current stance.

The Fed is facing pressure to tighten policy due to rising consumer prices, which exceeded economists' expectations in August. This could lead to a rate hike at next week's meeting, with traders now estimating an 86% chance of a September increase and two hikes by year-end.
