Trump Economic Agenda Sparks Election Fears for Republicans

As the midterm election cycle heats up, tensions over President Trump's economic agenda have left Republicans vulnerable in traditionally safe red seats. With the president's declining approval ratings and growing public doubts about the Iran war, rising prices, and immigration enforcement, Democrats are optimistic that some current Republican-held seats are within reach.

Races in key battleground states like Texas, Iowa, Alaska, North Carolina, Maine, and Ohio have become increasingly competitive. In Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton is locked in a tight race against state Rep. James Talarico, with several surveys showing the two candidates neck and neck. Despite Talarico's massive fundraising advantage, Paxton has maintained his lead.

The Trump administration is also facing economic pressure from its nearly six-month war with Iran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Operation Economic Outcast, an effort to pressure countries around the world to cut financial ties with Iran or risk losing access to the U.S. dollar system.
