US President Donald Trump has again urged the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates, claiming that America 'should have the lowest interest rates in the world.' He made the comments at his Doonbeg golf resort in Ireland on Sunday.

When asked if he expected the Fed to raise its benchmark interest rate at the upcoming FOMC meeting, Trump replied, 'I don't know.'

However, he reaffirmed his preference for lower rates, stating that 'the US economy is so strong, regardless of whatever formula they use, we should have the lowest interest rates in the world.'

Trump has repeatedly called on the Fed to lower its benchmark interest rate in recent weeks. On September 4, he warned that the United States would halt trade with countries running deficits against it if the Fed did not cut rates.
