Trump Reignites Feud with Canada Over Trade and Banking

US President Donald Trump has reignited his feud with Canada over trade and banking. In a press conference, he claimed that Canada's tariffs on American farmers have cost the US billions of dollars.

Trump also criticized Canada for not allowing American banks to operate in the country, saying it's 'sort of emblematic of the way they treat us'. He pointed out that Canadian banks are major players in the US economy, with half of all foreign bank assets in Canada being from US subsidiaries and branches.

Trump also revisited a long-standing grievance over aviation certification, claiming that Canada has unfairly blocked sales of US-made jets. He referenced his previous threat to impose tariffs on Canadian-made Bombardier aircraft unless Canada approved Gulfstream jets manufactured in the US.

Canada has countered Trump's claims by pointing out that it certified two models of Gulfstream jets just a month after the President's threats. Trump also suggested that the US should reduce its reliance on Canada, saying 'they need us, we don't need them'. He claimed that the US has better oil, gas, and timber resources than Canada.
