Trump Renews Bid to Oust Federal Reserve Board Member Over Mortgage Allegations

President Trump has renewed his effort to remove Lisa D. Cook from her position on the Federal Reserve Board, alleging that she may have made false statements on mortgage applications.

Cook's attorney, Abbe Lowell, has called the allegations baseless, with Cook herself describing them as 'clerical errors.'

The President, through his assistant Daniel Scavino, claims that Cook signed documents stating that a Michigan property would be her principal residence, but later purchased a condominium in Atlanta and listed it for rent without disclosing rental income.

Scavino wrote that the 'President believes it is inconceivable' that Cook was not aware of her first commitment when making the second, and that taken together, these acts may demonstrate that she committed a crime.
