Trump Repeats Bid to Oust Fed Governor Amid Mortgage Fraud Claims
U.S. President Donald Trump is once again attempting to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, despite the Supreme Court's ruling in June that blocked his previous effort.
The White House sent a letter to Cook this week, citing unproven mortgage fraud allegations and demanding she respond within three weeks.
Cook's lawyer called the allegations 'baseless' and vowed to challenge them, saying that 'there is no valid cause' for removing her from her position as governor.
This move comes after Trump earlier this week issued another order attempting to limit birthright citizenship, following a Supreme Court ruling against his previous effort.
