Trump attempted to fire her last year, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that he could not remove a Fed governor without adequate cause.
Cook views the administration's effort as a pretext to gain influence over interest rate policy and is expected to continue fighting her dismissal. Meanwhile, Jerome Powell, who led the central bank for more than eight years until May, has chosen to remain on the board, providing Trump with one certain seat to fill during his remaining time in office.
