Trump Seeks Rate Cut Amid Strong US Jobs Report
US President Donald Trump has called for lower interest rates after the country added 162,000 jobs in August. The figure is considered stronger-than-expected employment growth and is seen as evidence of economic momentum under his leadership.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized America's improving economic strength and creditworthiness while criticizing high rates as a competitive disadvantage. He argued that the solid hiring figures demonstrate the United States is 'a much stronger credit than it was just a short time ago.'
Trump called for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates, stating that 'A STRONG COUNTRY MEANS A LOWER INTEREST RATE, IT'S A BETTER CREDIT... Very simple!' He also urged the Fed to return to having 'the LOWEST RATE of any country in the World, like 'the old days.'
