In an interview with Punchbowl News, Trump stated that while Warsh has some control over interest rates, the decision ultimately lies with a board that includes former chair Jerome Powell and Lisa Cook.

Trump's comments come after he previously criticized his predecessors at the Fed, particularly Jerome Powell, for being too slow to lower interest rates. He expressed a desire to 'go back to those days' when positive economic numbers led to lower interest rates, which is not typically how monetary policy works.
