Trump Stands by Fed Chief Despite Interest Rate Disagreement
US President Donald Trump remains steadfast in his support for Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh despite the latter's refusal to cut interest rates as demanded by Trump.
Warsh, who took over from Jerome Powell in May, has hinted at a more hawkish stance on monetary policy, particularly with inflation rising alongside a resilient job market and economy.
'He's a brilliant guy,' Trump said of Warsh during an Oval Office press conference. 'I know he'd love to see lower interest rates, but he's got a board, and it's a political board, and they want to keep rates up.'
