Trump Targets Canada Over Exchange Rate, Declares Imbalance 'Unacceptable'

President Donald Trump has issued another warning to Canada regarding the exchange rate between their national currencies. In a post on Truth Social, he declared that the Canadian dollar's imbalance with the U.S. dollar is 'unacceptable' and vowed that this would no longer be tolerated.

The current exchange rate stands at approximately 1.3840 Canadian dollars per U.S. dollar, making the Canadian dollar roughly equivalent to 72 U.S. cents, according to Bank of Canada data cited by Reuters and Newsweek.

This imbalance has led Trump to claim that Canada is gaining an unfair trade advantage, particularly in sectors such as autos, steel, aluminum, and dairy. However, Canadian officials have rejected this argument, stating that the currency is freely traded and that the Bank of Canada targets inflation rather than the exchange rate.
