Trump Targets Fed Governor Over Mortgage Fraud Allegations
President Trump is once again targeting Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook over unproven allegations of mortgage fraud. This move comes just over a month after the Supreme Court blocked Trump's earlier effort to remove Cook from her position.
The White House has sent a letter to Cook, demanding that she respond to allegations made by Trump ally William Pulte, who oversees mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The charges claim that Cook made false statements on mortgage applications.
Cook has denied any wrongdoing, with her attorney stating that the allegations are 'baseless' and that there is no valid cause for removing her from her position as a financial regulator.
