Trump made his comments while praising the US August jobs report, which saw a strong increase in employment numbers. He has long been critical of the Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions, arguing that they are too high and stifling economic expansion.
The Fed, however, has maintained its independence from political pressure, making monetary policy decisions based on its own forecasts and data rather than presidential directives.
