US President Donald Trump has reignited tensions with Canada over trade, warning that the country's currency exchange rate is 'unacceptable'.

On Truth Social, Trump stated that the imbalance in the exchange rate between the US and Canadian dollars has been a problem for years but will no longer be tolerated.

The current exchange rate sees one US dollar buying approximately 1.3840 Canadian dollars, making the Canadian dollar worth roughly 72 US cents.

This disparity has led to Canada posting a $769 million trade surplus in July, while the US trade deficit with Canada exceeded $48 billion over the previous year.
