Trump Threatens Economic Collapse for Canada Over Trade Dispute
US President Donald Trump has warned Canada that its economy could collapse if its politicians continue to portray him as an enemy. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump responded to statements by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, saying it's great for Canadian politicians to make him the enemy until their economy collapses.
'It's great for Canadian politicians like Prime Minister Mark Carney to make President Donald Trump the 'enemy' until their economy collapses. Then it will be very bad for politics, worse than anything that has ever happened to any Canadian politician,' Trump wrote.
The trade relations between the United States and Canada have deteriorated sharply in recent weeks, with Washington imposing 50% tariffs on around $20 billion worth of Canadian goods in August. In response, Canada announced retaliatory tariffs on US goods, which are due to take effect on September 8.
