US President Donald Trump has expressed his respect for Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh and stated that he will take action on interest rates if necessary. In a recent speech, Warsh warned that policymakers need to gain confidence that inflation is heading towards the target rate of 2%.

Trump repeatedly emphasized the importance of lowering interest rates, saying 'We should pay, in my opinion, the lowest interest rates anywhere in the world by far.' The current preferred Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index remains at 3.7% annually as of July, a figure that is causing concern among voters ahead of November's midterm elections.

The Federal Reserve will meet next month to consider any changes to interest rates.
