Trump Threatens to Halt Trade With Countries Running Deficit Until Rates Are Cut
US President Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum to countries with which the US runs a trade deficit, threatening to halt trade unless the Federal Reserve lowers interest rates.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that he would stop trading with countries where the US has a deficit if the Fed does not cut rates.
The warning came after the Labour Department reported that US employers added 162,000 jobs in August, exceeding economists' expectations.
Trump directly targeted his handpicked Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh, saying 'The Fed Board, with its great new leader, must get smart - BE PATRIOTS for a change.'
