Trump Threatens Trade Restrictions if Fed Doesn't Cut Rates

US President Donald Trump has threatened to stop trading with countries that have a trade deficit with the United States if the Federal Reserve doesn't cut interest rates. In a social media post, Trump stated, 'We should have the LOWEST RATE of any country in the World ... LOWER THE RATE OR I’LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT.'

The comments come after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported stronger-than-expected job creation in August, which has boosted bets on a hike in interest rates later this month.
