The Labor Department's August jobs report showed a stronger-than-expected economy, with 162,000 new jobs added. This has caused some concern for those hoping to see lower interest rates from the Federal Reserve in its next meeting.

The probability of a quarter-point hike rose to over 58% after the data was released, according to CME FedWatch.

President Donald Trump responded by threatening to cut trade with countries that have a deficit if the Fed doesn't lower interest rates. He stated on social media that a strong country like the US should have low interest rates and that he wouldn't allow high rates to put the US at a disadvantage.
