In an airport press conference before returning from his visit to Ireland on September 13th (local time), President Trump stated, 'Yes, we will do that for some countries.'

He emphasized that the U.S. does not want to see a trade deficit with other nations and aims to achieve a surplus or at least balance in trade. The President stressed that this policy would be implemented over a period of time.

This warning comes after he urged the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates ahead of their upcoming meeting on September 15th-16th through his social media platform Truth Social. He hinted at the possibility of suspending trade if the Fed does not comply with his request, which has raised concerns in the market.
