Trump Throws Fed Under Bus Again, But His Own Policies Fuel Inflation

President Donald Trump has once again criticized the Federal Reserve for its interest rate decisions. Speaking on Air Force One, he stated that Kevin Warsh, the Fed chair, 'has a board that's maybe a little bit hostile... and maybe a board that wants to do the wrong things.' He emphasized that interest rates should be lowered, as the country could reach GDP growth of 8%, 9%, or 10%.

The president's comments come despite Warsh being his handpicked successor to Jerome Powell. Trump has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the Fed's decisions on interest rates, which he believes are hindering economic growth.

However, experts argue that Trump's policies, such as tariffs and the Iran war, have pushed inflation beyond the Fed's target of 2%. The current TTM inflation rate is at 4.2%, the highest level since April 2023.
