Trump Touts Economic Achievements as Warsh Takes Reins at Fed
President Donald Trump on Friday said that Americans 'suffered the worst inflation' under the previous administration, touting his own record of achieving maximum employment and stable prices.
During the swearing-in ceremony for Kevin Warsh as the next Federal Reserve Chair, Trump expressed confidence that Warsh would restore trust in the Fed across the political spectrum.
Trump stated that he and Warsh have discussed returning the Fed to its core goals of maximum employment and stable prices. He also emphasized that economic growth does not mean inflation, saying 'people all over the world are going to be looking at Kevin... probably and possibly more than any other person that's had your esteemed position before.'
Warsh, in his acceptance speech, promised to lead a reform-oriented central bank that learns from past successes and failures, moves beyond rigid models, and maintains high standards of integrity and performance.
