Trump's Crypto Summit: Pushing for Clarity Act Passage and National Bitcoin Reserve
US President Donald Trump hosted a high-stakes crypto summit at the White House to push for passage of the CLARITY Act, which would bring more innovation-friendly regulation. The meeting was attended by top crypto CEOs from Coinbase, Robinhood, Ripple, and Gemini, as well as regulators from the SEC and CFTC.
According to Trump, 583 IPOs have raised $208 billion since his inauguration, a stark contrast to the previous regime's strict rules that stifled innovation. He emphasized the need for the CLARITY Act to maintain America's financial dominance.
Regulators touted new initiatives as innovative-friendly and contrasting with the previous era. They also discussed the possibility of establishing a national Bitcoin reserve, which would take pressure off the US dollar. Trump mentioned that the US is considering buying 'sizable' amounts of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
