Trump's Interest Rate Cuts Fail to Fuel Economy as Borrowing Costs Rise

President Donald Trump has been pushing for interest rate cuts, claiming they would be 'Rocket Fuel' for the economy. However, his efforts are not yielding the desired results.

The war in Iran has led to higher oil prices and increased inflation, causing borrowing costs to rise. Despite this, Trump continues to maintain that the economy is booming, citing low unemployment rates and consumer spending as proof.

However, these arguments have failed to connect with voters, who are more concerned about keeping pace with inflation. Research has shown that hourly wage gains have not kept up with price increases over the last 12 months.

The Federal Reserve's new chair, Kevin Warsh, has stated that inflation continues to run hot and offered no clear guidance on how to fix the problem. Markets expect interest rates to rise in September, which could further exacerbate the issue for Trump and Republicans ahead of the midterm elections.
