Trump's Trade Policies Draw Republican Concern Amid Midterm Election Focus

President Donald Trump's economic policies have drawn concern from some Republicans over his trade approach.

Rep. Ashley Hinson (R., Iowa) criticized Trump's recent announcement to lower tariffs for up to 300,000 metric tons of imported ground beef, saying it would hurt domestic cattle ranchers and arguing that the import taxes are helping U.S. cattle ranchers restore the U.S. cattle supply, which remains at a 75-year low.

Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, considered one of the most vulnerable Republican incumbents, urged Trump to reverse course on Canadian import taxes and 'reach a fair agreement' after trade talks between the United States and Canada collapsed.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican who is running for reelection, refused to grade Trump on the economy when asked about it, saying that 'people are not talking to me about Trump' on the campaign trail.
