TSX Composite Index Hits New Heights Amid Strong Earnings Expectations
The TSX Composite Index has had a remarkable year, rising by 14.35% and reaching new all-time highs. The index has outperformed its US counterpart, the S&P 500, with a gain of 30% in the last 12 months.
One of the key drivers behind this rally is the performance of top companies such as Barrick Gold, Franco-Nevada, and Constellation Software, which are set to release their earnings on Tuesday. Other notable names include Hydro One, Pan American Silver, and Exchange Income.
The index has also been influenced by the Canadian labor market, which added over 75k jobs in July, despite a decline of 23,000 jobs in the US. However, analysts predict that the Bank of Canada will maintain interest rates steady for now, pending further observation of economic growth.
