TSX Composite Sinks Nearly 300 Points as Markets Slide
Canada's main stock index, the S&P/TSX composite, plummeted nearly 300 points in late-morning trading on September 15, 2026. The losses were spread across multiple sectors, including base metals, finance, technology, and telecom.
The S&P/TSX composite index dropped 289.70 points to reach a value of 35,412.83. Meanwhile, U.S. stock markets also took a hit, with the Dow Jones industrial average down by 487.17 points at 51,934.03.
Market analysts attributed the decline in part to losses in key sectors such as base metals and finance. The Canadian dollar traded for 71.84 cents US compared to 71.90 cents US on Monday.
