TSX Ekes Out Gains Amid Bank Earnings and Geopolitical Tensions
The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) closed Thursday with narrow gains, rising by 20.6 points to 36,834.25.
The Canadian dollar also gained ground, appreciating by 0.11 cents to reach 72.19 U.S. cents.
Investors closely watched quarterly earnings reports from major banks including the Royal Bank of Canada and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, as well as ongoing geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran.
CIBC shares fell by $4.66 to $159.16, while RBC lost $4.64 to $283.47.
