TSX Futures Held Back by Jobs Reports Ahead of Fed Meeting
Futures tracking Canada's blue-chip stocks were subdued on Friday as investors held back from making big bets ahead of crucial jobs reports in both the US and Canada.
The S&P/TSX index futures were relatively flat at 06:36 a.m. ET, with low trading volumes.
The US is set to release its employment data before markets open, which will give more clarity on how the labor market is performing.
This data will be closely watched by investors ahead of the Federal Reserve's September 15-16 monetary policy meeting, where there are mixed expectations about whether interest rates will rise or remain steady.
Recently, bets that rates could increase this month have swung back and forth as US inflation data has painted a mixed picture, with Fed Chair Kevin Warsh not providing clear guidance.
