TSX Futures Hold Steady Amid Earnings and GDP Report
The TSX futures market was relatively stable on Friday as investors digested corporate earnings and Canada's May GDP report.
Fairfax Financial and Cameco reported revenue above expectations, but both missed EPS forecasts. Enbridge beat estimates for second-quarter adjusted profit, while Imperial Oil's quarterly earnings exceeded expectations due to higher crude prices and stronger refining margins.
The Canadian economy expanded 0.3% in May, marking the second consecutive monthly increase and slightly surpassing forecasts of 0.2%. This development aligns with the Bank of Canada's view that the economy is adjusting to recent shocks.
