TSX Futures Rise as Oil Prices Surge to Six-Month High
Futures tied to Canada's main stock index rose ahead of key U.S. inflation data due out today.
The S&P/TSX 60 index standard futures contract had gained 11 points, or 0.5%, by 07:03 ET (11:03 GMT), while the Dow futures contract had risen by 300 points, or 0.6%, and Nasdaq 100 futures had advanced by 183 points, or 0.6%.
The surge in oil prices to above $100 a barrel has fueled concerns about inflation, leading investors to bet on higher interest rates from the Federal Reserve next week.
Gold prices stabilized as traders await the U.S. inflation data, which is expected to show steady headline consumer price index at 3.4% and core CPI easing slightly to 2.4%, but markets are on guard for any signs of sticky inflation.
