TSX Futures Slip as Oil Prices Surge Ahead of US Inflation Data
Futures linked to Canada's main stock index ticked lower on Thursday as markets prepared for key U.S. inflation data that could influence Federal Reserve monetary policy decisions.
The S&P/TSX 60 index standard futures contract had slipped by 5 points, or 0.3%, by 07:12 ET (11:12 GMT).
Ongoing tensions in the Middle East kept oil prices elevated, with benchmark crude climbing back above $100 a barrel and touching its highest levels since 2023.
The U.S. futures were mixed, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising by 84 points, or 0.2%, S&P 500 futures mostly unchanged, and Nasdaq Composite declining by 106, or 0.4%.
