TSX Rallies on Miners Boost Amid BoC Interest Rate Decision
The TSX Composite Index rose on Wednesday, driven by mining stocks and other sectors. The index gained 223.37 points or 0.62 percent to reach 36,049.10. This rebound came after three consecutive sessions of declines.
The Bank of Canada left its benchmark interest rate at 2.25 percent as expected, but noted that inflation risks have increased and growth prospects are uncertain due to new U.S. tariffs.
Despite this uncertainty, bets on an interest-rate hike this year inched up to 75 percent from 64 percent before the announcement, according to the swaps market.
