TSX Tumbles 444 Points as Iran Strikes Send Oil Prices Soaring
The TSX composite index dropped by 444.75 points on Tuesday to close at 35,825.73 as US forces struck targets in Iran and crude prices surged past $90 per barrel.
According to Ainsley Mackie, a portfolio manager at Verecan Capital Management, markets remain resilient despite ongoing geopolitical tensions.
'We're seeing on a day-to-day basis, flows are going between technology and other sectors, and today was one of those days when it was flowing out of technology, and it was flowing into energy,' Mackie said.
The Bank of Canada is set to announce its interest rate decision on Wednesday, with odds favoring a seventh consecutive hold at 95 percent.
