U.S. Treasury Warns Against Excessive Yen Volatility
The U.S. Treasury Department's semi-annual foreign exchange policy report has been released, keeping Japan on its 'monitoring list' for currency practices.
While Japan avoided being labeled a 'currency manipulator', which would subject it to potential sanctions, the report explicitly stated that 'excessive volatility is undesirable' regarding the yen.
This marks the first time the phrase has been used in a foreign exchange report under the Trump administration.
