UAE and Canada Seal Historic Economic Partnership Deal
The UAE and Canada have reached the final terms of their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations.
The agreement was concluded in record time, making it the fastest to achieve among the 38 agreements reached by the UAE under the umbrella of its Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements Program, launched in September 2021.
The pact aims to boost economic cooperation between the two countries by reducing customs duties and enhancing mutual access to markets. It also provides opportunities for private sector growth in strategic sectors such as aviation, food, biominerals, clean energy, and data centers.
The agreement is expected to contribute to billions of dollars in investments flowing into major projects, including ports, mines, LNG facilities, and essential minerals. The UAE's trade with Canada has already shown significant growth, reaching $4.2 billion in 2025, a 21% increase from the previous year.
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements Program is a key pillar of the UAE's foreign trade strategy, which aims to double the country's economy to exceed $800 billion by 2031, six years ahead of target.
