UCD to Host Major European Economics Congress Amid Global Economic Uncertainty
The University College Dublin (UCD) is set to host a major European Economics Congress that will bring more than 1,000 delegates from six continents to Dublin for five days of research, debate, and collaboration. The event marks the 77th European Meeting of the Econometric Society and the 41st meeting of the European Economic Association.
The conference will feature keynote lectures from some of the world's leading economists alongside a large program of academic sessions. A key focus of the programme will be a high-level panel examining the evolution and resilience of the Irish economy, featuring Rolf Strauch, Chief Economist of the European Stability Mechanism; Sarah Holton of the European Central Bank; Oana Peia of UCD's School of Economics; and Robert Kelly, Chief Economist of the Central Bank of Ireland.
The discussion will explore Ireland's recovery from the financial crisis and the challenges facing the economy, including trade tariffs, changes in international tax policy, and energy price shocks. The event is organized across UCD by Associate Professor of Econometrics Alessia Paccagnini at UCD Smurfit School, who said: 'Hosting this Congress is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to spotlight Ireland as a vibrant place to conduct world-class research.'
