Britain's economy has experienced an unexpected growth of 0.3% in June, according to official data released on Thursday.

The boost is attributed to several factors, including a respite from energy price surges caused by the Iran war, the start of the men's soccer World Cup, and hot weather.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast zero growth in month-on-month terms for June, but actual numbers exceeded expectations.

Thomas Pugh, chief economist at accountancy firm RSM UK, commented on the development: 'Overall, the economy seems to have weathered the Iran war extremely well, with little sign of consumers or businesses curtailing activity in response to higher oil prices.'
