UK FinReg Sees Wave of Regulatory Developments in July
The UK's financial regulatory landscape has seen significant developments in July 2026. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) published Handbook Notice 143, outlining changes to the FCA Handbook made by the FCA board on June 25 and July 30.
On consumer duty, the FCA published its findings following a review of firms' approaches to monitoring outcomes under the Consumer Duty. The Bank of England's Governor Andrew Bailey addressed the three areas of regulating bank capital, payments, and tokenization in his speech on economic growth.
The UK Treasury has published an update on the delivery of its Financial Services Growth and Competitiveness Strategy one year after its launch. A policy paper was also released setting out recommendations to advance UK-US financial services collaboration, focusing on digital assets and capital markets.
